The slow Spring proceeds slowly

For the 3rd of April, we started at 21F at 7am. Over the weekend, we walked out to the No-name pond out back. As shown here, it is still about 90% ice covered.
The trails have spots where snow is still almost a foot in depth. Because of the daytime melting and over night freezing, the consistency of the snow is very soft. Instead of walking on some frozen layers, you sink right down and need taller boots to stay dry.
The lack of open water has also kept birds away from my favorite observation spots. Where’s my global warming?
