Here are my first posts from our visit to the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Annex located near Dulles Airport in Virginia. Mr Udvar-Hazy was a wealthy businessman in the aircraft leasing business and he contributed $66M toward the creation of this site (we took the tour).

There are an uncountable number of aircraft of all sizes here; aside from its connection to the Air and Space Museum – I have wanted to visit when it was announced they had a SR-71 and a U-2 (I like spy planes). The second image here provides a sense of the large multi-hangar area where all these exhibits are; the SR-71 is so long, I couldn’t fit it into my photo and they must have had fun getting it into position.

The Enola Gay is the B-29 that dropped the A-bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, on Aug. 6. 1945.
