Waking up from hibernation
On a walk off-trail several weeks ago (when Spring was scheduled to appear), we came upon a very lethargic porcupine. He barely moved and did not appear to notice us at all as we slowly circled in a half arc around his position.
Among our walk, we found a number of examples of old tree stumps being re-cycled as food and as shelter; the almost perfectly round holes punched into the interior are usually doors to a home.
