Winter on the door step
In preparation for winter, the water and dam authorities around our region open the dams to let the lakes drain. With a spring and summer of drought, the draining did not take long.
Below the pristine waters of central Maine lies a load of crap (sort of reminds one of our national experience in 2016, both political and environmental): maybe draining the swamp isn’t the solution.
We got a sudden six to eight inch snow storm early in December and then several days of -10 like nights and mornings. Last Saturday, five more inches of snow followed by a 50F degree Sunday equaled -5F on Monday morning. We needed crampons to walk across the driveway on Tuesday, then we had the first day of Winter arrive.
At least it covers the trash in the swamp.
