Winter roads and trails
The local road on new year’s day looks pretty much the same as Christmas day; the backwoods trails are much the same. Temperatures are coldest in our twenty-five years of being in Maine. I am not sure I have ever been in a colder location; certainly I have never experienced a twenty-four hour period being below Zero. This may have occurred during the last few days, perhaps even today.
The second shot in the post is looking down the trail created many years ago for the snow machines; this is off the old railroad trail and on the other side of the beaver bog from our property. The grove of birch and other light woods are simply overwhelmed by the ice.
