During our visit to Mystic in September, we got pictures of many great egrets. The great egret, yellow dagger-like beak, thin black legs, and the body of a heron, was spotted around the Ice pond, at most locations around Poggy Bay, and over at the Yacht Club and Enders Island.

Here at left, on the far dock across Poggy Bay, this egret stood on one leg for the entire time, 30 minutes?, that we spent observing the wild life one morning.
At right, beyond the dock along the stone wall edging was a heron.
