Reaching Mystic

d81hp_007zWe got to Mystic for our brief vacation stay; brother Tom’s bird feeding operation was in full gear. Curiously, we have observed a squadron of crows squawking and hovering around. This was disconcerting to us but not the variety of birds using the facilities.

You can see a small group of sparrows at the main feeder (below); I spotted a chipping sparrow in the lot but, others, such as song sparrows, could be there.

Aside from sparrows and chickadees, there were cardinals, nuthatches, and titmouses (see below).

At the hummingbird feeders nearer the house, there were hummingbirds constantly flying by and stopping to sample the feeders.

D81_1760z_150809_162On Sunday at around 11:30am, as I sat on the front steps with 200MM lens and tripod pre-focused, then, without warning: target acquired!

Do you want wings front? Wings back?

Over three weeks of filling and refilling the feeder. Periodically sitting out (OK, front steps of your house, all the food and beer and reading material you want, not tough duty) and waiting.
